In response to this new paradigm, the role of the traditional product industry becomes one of developing platforms much like the major software companies developing operating systems in the 80’s and 90’s. In the case of this studio, we will take into consideration the Chimei Sysmo pendant lamp as our open operating platform. In the past couple months we have discussed everything from surface morphing geometries and packing algorithm to data trees and list management in our weekly lectures and work sessions.
